Abstract:
Summary of the Governance Status of Nanhui East Beach at the Yangtze River Estuary;Based on measured hydrological and topographic data, an analysis was conducted on the changes in the overall river regime of the Yangtze River Estuary and the variations in Nanhui East Beach before and after its remediation. A preliminary follow-up remediation plan was proposed, its impacts on the river regime and ecological environment were studied, and optimization suggestions for subsequent remediation were put forward. The results indicate: ① The Yangtze River Estuary has transformed from a sediment-rich, accretion-type estuary to an erosion-type estuary, posing an erosion risk to the outer areas of the Nanhui East Beach remediation project.② The follow-up remediation of Nanhui East Beach did not alter the macro hydrodynamic patterns of the Yangtze River Estuary and Hangzhou Bay. The regional flow remained stable and orderly overall, with the flow field becoming more concentrated and the channeling effect of the flow enhanced. This overall improved the hydrodynamic conditions in the areas adjacent to the project, increasing the along-dike flow velocity at the project's front, which may cause scouring. The remediation project altered the wetland landscape, reducing intertidal mudflat wetlands.③ In addition to raising the crest height of the existing siltation-promoting dikes as part of the follow-up remediation, it is recommended to incorporate short spur dike clusters on the outer dikes to promote siltation.
