Abstract
To address the issue of debris flow in the Menggu Dagou gully along the roads surrounding the Wudongde Hydropower Station reservoir.Based on the analysis of the development characteristics, main characteristic parameters, hydrological calculations of the debris flow gully, andthrough technical and economic comparison, a design scheme for filling submerged embankment to cross the gully was proposed.The research results indicated that: ① Menggu Dagou was a moderately prone and moderately dangerous viscous debris flow gully in its prime period, with a peak flow of 346.04 m3/s once in a decade.② The use of a waterway road embankment solution had solved the problems of complex geological conditions, large fluctuations in reservoir water level, and difficult of debris over-topping in the Menggu Dagou area.The solution had a simple structure, convenient construction, and good economy, and was suitable for low technical level and low traffic volume reservoir surrounding highways.The research results can provide a reference for the design of the roads through debris flow gullies around large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower projects.
